Description

The Bridge spans the falls between Zimbabwe and Zambia with spectacular views of the Batoka Gorge falling away below you.  Standing right above the boiling, frantic, frothing of the Victoria Fallsas it compresses into the narrow gorge, you can marvel at the power and force of these mighty waters as they carve their way down the steep 128m granite cliffs to complete its 2700 km journey as it empties into the Indian Ocean in Mozambique.

The Victoria Falls Bridge was built in 1905 using revolutionary Victorian engineering methods.  An amazing feat for its day.  The Historic Bridge Tour is a journey through 100 years of Victorian engineering to the heart of Cecil John Rhodes’ failed vision of a Cape to Cairo railway.  Cecil Rhodes insisted that the bridge be built where the trains when they passed, would catch the spray of the falls.

The Tour includes a light-hearted but informative talk on the history of the bridge. Magnificent views of the rapids, rainbows and majesty of the Victoria Falls and Batoka Gorge.  On the walkways underneath the bridge, you get the unique opportunity to see a bungee jump or a bridge slide up close.

The Historic Bridge Tour is a wonderful family experience full of theatre, facts and adventure set against the glorious backdrop of the Victoria Falls which can be enjoyed by all ages.

ALL ACTIVITIES ON THE VICTORIA FALLS BRIDGE REQUIRE A PASSPORT.  THE BRIDGE IS THE BOARDER BETWEEN ZIMBABWE AND ZAMBIA.
