Your friendly and informed guide will fetch you from your hotel/V&A waterfront/home in central Cape Town. You head off over Kloof Neck between Table Mountain and Signal Hill and the vista opens up as you descend down to a spectacular series of stunningly beautiful, turquoise bays that make up the Atlantic Sea Board framed by granite beauty of the Twelve Apostles. This is 'camera time' as you stop for the perfect shot. White sands and sparkling blue sea's from Clifton Beaches through to Llandudno, then over the mountain and down to picturesque Hout Bay, an active harbour and fishing village.
Continue to the iconic Chapmans Peak Drive. This is one of the best coastal drives in the world. It is 9 km long with 114 curves and is cut over half a km high into Chapmans Peak. It follows the rocky coastline with breath taking views in both directions then drops down to the long sandy stretch of Noordhoek Beach. Then on to the rugged, rocky beaches of Kommertjie past the surfing beaches of Misty Cliffs and Scarborough.
Enter the Cape Point Nature Reserve home to the unique Cape Fynbos, birds, reptiles, mammals & marine life in a stunning setting and arrive at Cape Point . It may not be the southernmost point of Africa – that honour goes to Cape Agulhas – but Cape Point certainly makes you feel as if you are standing at the edge of Africa. Gazing south, Antarctica is next stop; over 7000km away. You have the option of either walking or taking a funicular ride[own expense] to the upper lighthouse right at the tip of Cape Point. The views from the viewing platforms of crashing waves and turquoise bays, and out over endless navy ocean are thrilling. This is often held to be the meeting point between the warm India Ocean and the cold Atlantic Ocean.
You make your way over to False Bay passing sparking beaches and bright blue seas and arrive at Boulders Beach where there is a colony of breeding African Penguins. It is the place in the world where you can get close to African Penguins. You have time to explore this area. If you choose to enter the protected area there is a fee [SA citizens get a discount with an ID card] Try the beautiful half kilometer of wooden walkways which gives views of the coves with penguins swimming and walking on the beach and nesting within a meter of the protective fence - and there is no charge.
