Description
Blyde Canyon Safaris, together with the Moletele community, offer scenic boat trips on the Blyde Dam.
Tick off those last couple of birds that have been eluding your bird list and enjoy seeing the hippo’s and crocodiles that make this dam their home.
We are passionate about nature and preserving the few untouched pieces that remain in South Africa. We aim to offer everyone the opportunity to experience the beauty that the Lowveld has to offer.
We offer daily trips at 7am, 9am, 11am, 1pm and 3pm. Join one of our trips or book the entire boat for yourself. Private trips available for up to 20 guests.
You’re welcome to bring your own refreshments and snacks, but please be aware that we do not allow alcohol on the boat. Special arrangements in this regard can be made for private trips though.
Remember to bring your hat and sunscreen in the summer, and your warm jersey in the winter.
Highlights
Seeing the parts of the Blyde River Canyon – specifically the Three Rondawels – from water level. Rare bird sightings such as Peter’s Finfoot and Bald Ibis. Spot some hippos and crocodiles.

There’s also an entry fee for the nature reserve where we operate from: R 20.00pp for kids and pensioners and R 35.00pp for adults.
We regret to inform you that we do not allow children under the age of 2 years on the boat trip.

We run a weather dependent service. We offer an option of a refund or rescheduling In the event of a trip cancellation due to either lightning or extreme wind over the dam.
