Depart daily from Johannesburg
This is an exciting safari into the heart of Big 5 [elephant, lion, leopard, buffalo, rhino] country in the Kruger National Park. Kruger is one of Africa’s largest game reserves and is largely the size of Israel. Its high density of wild animals includes the Big 5 and hundreds of other mammals which make their home here, as do diverse bird species such as vultures, eagles and storks. Mountains, bush plains and tropical forests are all part of the landscape. This is a journey into the African bush.
Enjoy comfortable tented accommodation (communal ablutions), open vehicle safari drives, bush walks, breakfast and dinner as well as return road transfers from Johannesburg.
Marc’s Treehouse Lodge is located in the Motlala Game Reserve which is home to 3 of the Big 5 (rhino, buffalo and leopard) and an abundance of antelope. Motlala Game Reserve falls within the Greater Kruger National Park and is ideally located close to the iconic Kruger Park.
The tented accommodation at Marc’s Treehouse Lodge is rustic but comfortable. The canvas safari tents are tucked away in a woodland grove with the sights, sounds and scents of the wild African bush creating an authentic safari experience. You are supplied with an electric light and fan, your bedding, a towel and soap.
Each safari tent is fully-equipped for comfort and convenience, including lights, electric fans, bedding, towel, soap and mosquito nets. Guests enjoy watching the parade of animals that come down to the Klaserie River on their private wooden deck that overlook the Klaserie River.
The tour includes a sunset game drive in Motlala Game Reserve, a full-day in the iconic Kruger National Park and a magical sunrise bushwalk along the Klaserie River. Evenings are spent under the stars enjoying an authentic African bushveld braai (barbeque).
Day 2: After breakfast, you will board an open safari vehicle and your game ranger and guide will drive you to the Orpen Gate to enter the Kruger National Park. Without windows and with the added height of the vehicle and an experience ranger, you have the best opportunity to ask questions, enjoy animal sightings and take photos. Your guide and ranger knows the best places to tour through the park and will will share interesting facts about the wildlife that you see. In this area of the park there is an abundance of giraffe, impala, zebra, elephant and the occasional predator. The bird life is plentiful and be on the lookout for soaring Bateleur Eagles and exquisite lilac-brested rollers.
Day 3: Starts with a morning bushwalk as the sun rises. In the company of an armed ranger, you will explore the Kruger Park bush and learn all about vegetation and insects that are seen along the way. You might also encounter nyala, buffalo, and other game during the course of the walk. We return for breakfast. The tour ends with a scenic drive back to Johannesburg via the Panorama Route to view the iconic mountain formations of the Three Rondavels which stand sentry over the Blyde River Canyon. We return you to your Johannesburg accommodation or airport at between 17h00 and 18h00 depending on traffic.
