Description

Your start off point is the airport in Gaberone , the vibrant capital of Botwana in the dry south of the country.  Check into your hotel/Lodge for the night and enjoy the hospitality of the friendly people. This night is for your own expense.  

Your guide will meet you on the 2nd day after breakfast and now your exciting adventure begins. You head for the desert areas of  Central Kalahari close to the town of Serowe, and make for your home for the next two nights, the Khama Rhino Sanctuary. It is a true eco-tourism destination, a non-profitable community operated sanctuary dedicated to protecting endangered species, particularly rhinos. Covering approximately, 8585 hectares of Kalahari Sandveld, the sanctuary provides prime habitat for white and black rhino as well as over 30 other animal species and more than 230 species of birds.  Community based wildlife project, established to assist in saving the vanishing rhinoceros population, restore an area restore an area formerly teeming with wildlife to its previous natural state and provide economic benefits to the local Botswana community through tourism and the sustainable use of natural resources. On your game drive you will have the chance to see black rhino, white rhino, impalas, giraffes, black backed jackal, steenbok antelopes, blue wildebeest, zebra and ostrich.

Itinerary

DAY 1:

Clients will be met after breakfast by our representative.   They will have a short briefing about their tour and then depart for Khama Rhino Sanctuary accompanied by our professional guide. Packed breakfast and lunch will be served along the way. Upon arrival, there will be a game drive and then they will settle into their campsite. Dinner will be prepared by our professional chef at the campsite. After dinner, clients can gather around the campfire before heading to bed. Time for bed will be determined by the last client.

The Khama Rhino Sanctuary is a community-based wildlife project, established in 1992 to assist in saving the vanishing rhinoceros, restore an area formerly teeming with wildlife to its previous natural state and provide economic benefits to the local Botswana community through tourism and the sustainable use of natural resources. DAY 2:

Here, you will get to track Rhinos by following their tracks and learning a few tricks about the wild. This activity is fascinating and will broaden your understanding of wild life in general.  This is conducted in the mornings only, accompanied by our qualified guides. The purpose of the activity is not only to find the rhinos, but also to learn some survival techniques and habits that these animals have adopted in their evolution. This activity starts at 06:00 am and clients are advised to wear appropriate footwear and bush-coloured clothing.

Clients will head back to the campsite and will be served brunch. Later in the afternoon, there will be a game drive where clients will get a chance to see animals such as black rhino, white rhino, impalas, giraffes, black-backed jackal, steenbok antelopes, blue wildebeest, zebra and ostrich. When back at the campsite clients will be served dinner. Time for bed will be determined by the last client.


 DAY 3:

On the departure day you will drive back to Maun, after breakfast and a short game drive,  and then be transferred to the airport to continue with other travel arrangements.  Your memories and photographs will remain with you for ever.
